Biography

Lorena Sender began her professional career in the theater, specializing in costume and stage design, since 90´s, being responsible by the scenic visual, more than 20 dramatic shows. In 2004 initiates as a fashion designer in a studio in Santa Teresa´s neighbourhood , after having worked in academic area to teaching in universities as a substitute teacher – and also artistic, as a costume, art production (Tv Globo) and in the textile area, in addition to taking part of fashion meetings and alternative showrooms (Feira de moda da Gávea, Santa Teresa de Portas Abertas and Mercado Mundo Mínimo), in her origin city, Rio de Janeiro. Lorena Joined to her first creations the experience in visual aesthetics of theatrical performance, resulting a timeless fashion with organic touches, using natural fabrics, craftly stained.

She´s graduated School of Fine Arts (UFRJ), 1995 and master oficial in Ciences of Art (Uff), 2000 – completed her studies in the course Constructing the Brand´s Identity, 2007, teaching by Inma Urrea y Audrey Bartis, in the Garment´s Museum of Barcelona´s City (DHUB). Brazilian of birth, carioca of passion, Spanish of nationality and barcelonese of adoption, takes part of events (catwalks, showrooms, shootings) and petits comités in Europe and Latin America, in addition to follow working also theatre design.

Lorena presented her first official collection in the Arena Profesional´s place, in Barcelona and immediately opened a studio, that in addition to the creation and production of collections, the coordination of courses: fashion graphic design, history of costume and ethical fashion. She participates of the International Fashion week Madrid in July of 2008, than she was recommended to the Salón Rendez-Vouz, Prêt-à-Porter, Paris and in November of the same year she was selected by the Generalitat of Catalonia as part of the fashion designers team. She presented collections in the circuit 080 Barcelona Fashion, 2009 and in the Couture catwalk in Oshum Concept Club, 2010, also shootings and editorials to Barcelona Deluxe magazine.

Collaborator of the fashion magazine Petit Comité Bcn and member of the team studies Forum Atenas, she writes articles about culture and creative process.

By her academic training and artistic implication – both multi discipline character, Lorena creates collections inspired in diversity, that comprise appearances of the nature, science or art, without losing the theatrical references. She also considers the fusion between fashion and ecology as important, and decants by the utilization of noble materials, no aggressive and easily readapt. Silk and organic cotton, mixing them with gauze or tulle, designing very feminine and original pieces.
